Within the horror genre the roles of victim and assailant are clearly defined. The victim, a woman who lacks personality and will, screams violently as she is murdered and is hence called the Scream queen. It is common within the horror genre to have clearly defined characters with a fixed position in the hierarchical order of the film. The movie characters are locked positions with predestined ends. The formula for the creation of the characters and their destiny is based on our prejudice towards the Other. The inhabitants of the Horror film world cannot determine the course of their own lives, their fate is already determined in the first frame of film in which they appear.

One of the roles in a horror movie's plot is called Final girl. She is the one that after a long fight finally overpowers the murderer and kills him. Despite the fact that this role seams like a powerful display that lifts the weak scream queens ? bimbo role, the role is also built from prejudice. To defend that she has become a hero she is frigid and reasonable and is not drinking beer or having sex. Furthermore, she is usually named a unisex name to wipe off her feminine identity.

These interiors are a part of the Scream Queens series and show the set of a fictitious horror movie. The actual place is a Japanese University and the photos transforms the interior into set design and props. A common place for horror movies to take place is the university, that is why I return to the source for this project. The project is performed at Tsukuba University outside Tokyo.
